Main Presentation:
Introduction to Single Page Applications with Durandal and ASP.NET MVC Web API
– Stacy Vicknair (Sparkhound)
Durandal is small JavaScript framework designed to make building Single Page Applications (SPAs) simple and elegant. Instead of reinventing the wheel, Durandal is built on libs you know and love like jQuery, Knockout and RequireJS. There’s little to learn and building apps feels comfortable and familiar. In this session we’ll introduce the concept of single page applications using Durandal and ASP.NET MVC Web API.
Stacy Vicknair is a senior development consultant working for Sparkhound in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has been developing on the .NET platform for since 2008 with the bulk of his work focused on web development on the ASP.NET web stack. He is active in his local community as a committee member for the Baton Rouge .NET User Group, planner for SQL Saturday Baton Rouge, and acts as the Division B Governor for Toastmasters District 68.
Lightning Round:
JS Testing – It’s not that scary…
– Justin Obney (Envoc)
The web is becoming the new “native”. The front-end is landscape is rapidly increasing with more and more logic moving into the client. It seems like a new framework/library is released every day. And with clients expecting a polished, responsive, and reliable application, unit testing your javascript is no longer a “nice thing to have.” The tooling is here. What are you waiting for.
Justin Obney has been known to make magic happen with applications. He shares that expertise with his co-workers, clients, and the occasional student. As a part-time teacher at a local technical college, Justin helps usher in the next crop of capable developers. When he is not teaching the world to be better front-end developers, odds are you can catch him at the gym picking up copious amounts of weights.
