Javascript, that devilishly pervasive and terribly abused language is a very simple one. Closures, first-class functions, duck-typing, type coercion, and prototype inheritance compose the entirety of its conceptual weight. Tragically enough, many people make no attempt to understand these and are missing out on this useful, widespread, and fun language. George Mauer is a New Orleans-based developer and speaker with an heavy interest in building efficient and elegant software. A former senior developer for EPS Software, a current senior developer at Surge Consulting, and owner of Humble Pi LLC, he spends most of his time working with C# and Javascript building slick web-applications for occasionally satisfied clients. He has spoken at various usergroups and regional conferences and co-hosts the weekly Virtual Brown Bag meeting. He is additionally interested in Powershell, Ruby on Rails, Agile Development, Alt.Net, and anything else that gets product out the door quicker. He is also a sketch and improv comedy performer with several New Orleans-based comedy troupes but not very good with hecklers.
